12/05/2007

Madison, WI—ConjuGon, Inc. announces today that it will receive
$1.2 million from the Department of Defense in 2008 to help fund the development of its novel wound infection treatment product. The measure was included in the Fiscal Year 2008 Department of Defense Appropriations Bill which was signed into law by the President on Tuesday, November 13th. U.S. Rep. Tammy Baldwin, D-Madison, was instrumental in securing the funds for ConjuGon.

“We are very excited to receive funding from the Department of Defense to develop this important product. As antibiotic resistance worsens, novel therapeutics like this are needed,” said ConjuGon’s COO Sal Braico. “We would also like to thank Congresswoman Baldwin for securing these funds, which support high-tech business and job creation in Wisconsin.”

ConjuGon is developing fundamentally new technologies to combat the growing epidemic of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Antibiotic resistance is a medical crisis, globally responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths each year. ConjuGon has two novel, biological products – one to prevent Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infections and the second to treat resistant wound infections. The company is located in the University Research Park in Madison, WI.
